Clearwater Beach Fun

We finally made it to the beach this summer!  Our brother-n-law's parents live in Clearwater and were too sweet to invite us to stay at their beach house.  The best part was Marty's whole family was headed down as well.  So on Thursday afternoon, 7/18, the car pool headed out.  Marty's sister lead the pack with her 3 kids and Marty followed with the boys and Grandmama.  Twelve hours later they finally made down there - pretty good considering the GPS said it was going to take almost 11 hours without stopping.  Needless to say they were a little exhausted the next day.  Since Randy and I had to work, we flew in separately on Friday night.  After some back and forth with flight delays, we made it in around 11 that night.  I was so excited to wake up the next day and head to the beach with the boys.  We had some great days on the beach playing in the sand, floating on the inflatable dolphin, riding the waves and kayaking.  Speaking of kayaking, Braxton absolutely loved his ride and did not want to get out of the boat - I was the same way once I had the chance to go out in one - so peaceful!  Every night we anxiously awaited the beautiful sunsets on the beach - it was the perfect ending to each day.  On Saturday, we headed over to Randy's parent's house on the bay (where their family was staying) to celebrate Ben's 6th birthday with ice cream cake and pizza.  The boys were so worn out from the party that they fell asleep on the ride home.  Monday night we headed out to dinner with the whole Booth/Goodgame clan.  Being that there were as many kids as adults, it was a quick meal but we did get to take some fun family pics on the beach.  On Tuesday, we decided to take the boys to the Clearwater aquarium to meet Winter from Dolphin Tale.  Braxton loves that movie and watches it all the time so he was super anxious to get to see the famous dolphin.  Unfortunately, Tuesday was my last day as I had to get back to work.  It was super hard leaving my boys at the beach!  Grandmama and Aunt Amy were sweet enough to keep the boys while Marty took me to lunch and then the airport.  It was a nice day getting to hang with the hubby for a bit.  Marty, Grandmama and the boys headed back on Friday - the were definitely ready to get home.  I believe the next time we go, we will end up flying - definitely a long road trip with two boys under the age of 4.  We had a great time even so and were so thankful to get some much needed vacay!
