Christmas 2010

This year, Christmas for the Booth family was a little (to say the least) different than most years. We had planned on traveling to Ralph the Wednesday before Christmas to visit with Marty's family and then head to Auburn to celebrate with my family on Christmas Eve. Due to us all having the dreaded stomach bug, we ended up spending a quiet Christmas at home. Braxton had started showing symptoms the Saturday before Christmas and was still having stomach problems throughout the whole week. Marty ended up getting it on Wednesday and I got it Thursday. Needless to say, we definitely weren't making it to Ralph. We were hoping to be better by Friday and make it to my parent's house, but the bug just wouldn't go away and we sure didn't want anyone else to get this awful virus! Thank goodness for technology these days...we were able to Skype with my family on Christmas day. It was so hard missing Christmas with our families for the second year in a row (last year I was due to have Braxton a week later, so we had to stay home).

Since we had planned on traveling during Christmas, we celebrated our own family Christmas early on 12/19. We even had our own "Christmas Eve" celebration and let Braxton open a couple of his gifts...too bad we were off to the ER shortly thereafter since we were scared that Braxton was getting dehydrated. Thankfully, Braxton wasn't dehydrated, but the doctor said he had an ear infection and prescribed him some amoxicillan....very interesting since we went for a follow-up later that week and his ears were clear. Either way, he definitely had the stomach virus and it lasted until the day before his birthday (12/27).

We felt so bad that Braxton didn't have anything to open on the real Christmas day. At least he is young enough that he never knew the difference. Santa was really good to Braxton this year...he got him a Radio Flyer wagon, some books and cars. We had fun taking him for rides around the house in his new wagon. We also enjoyed watching the beautiful snow falling from the sky...who would have guessed that we would have a White Christmas!

Although it wasn't the Christmas we had planned, it was still a special first Christmas for Braxton. Thanks to everyone for the thoughts, prayers and phone calls while we were sick...they were greatly appreciated!

Here are some pics from our family celebration and Christmas day:
