This past weekend we headed to Auburn to celebrate my parent's 50th wedding anniversary. I think my sister said it best..."there is no way they are old enough to be celebrating 50 years of marriage!" Believe it or not, they were married on Sunday, August 27, 1961. Aren't they such a great looking couple...
To celebrate, we took them out to Mikata Japanese Restaurant for dinner. Our family is so big that we took up a whole room (2 grills). We were curious to see how Braxton would react to the fire...his eyes just continued to get bigger (if they aren't big already). We all had a great time celebrating and Mom and Dad were presented with a celebratory pineapple boat and picture from the waitress. After dinner we headed over to Angelyn's house for dessert and gifts. Angelyn did a great job on the cake that she modeled after their wedding cake - they even kept the original topper so it added the perfect touch. Mom had picked out a patio chair that she liked so we took them outside to surprise them with it and a side table. To top off the night, we gave them a photo album that celebrated each decade of their marriage and watched an "early days" video montage that Amy put together. We are so blessed to have such a great example of marriage. Happy 50th Anniversary Mom and Dad -- We love you!!!
