We are definitely getting ready for this baby to be here. Last Friday, I was admitted to the hospital for contractions that were averaging 8 minutes apart. While at work, I started having them and they continued to get stronger over a 2-hour period. Casey was kind enough to drive me to the hospital so that we would know if it was a false alarm before having Marty leave Braxton for the night. Once I arrived at the hospital, the nurse hooked me up to the monitors and I started to see some contractions that were even 2-4 minutes apart but lacked as much intensity. She then checked my dilation and I was 2 cm. The doctor decided that an IV and shot were necessary to help stop the contractions since I was only 36 weeks. Once they gave me the shot, it seemed as the contractions had slowed a bit. The nurse came back in and gave me the option of staying over night and being checked again in the morning or being released and monitor contractions at home. I preferred the first option so Casey and I settled in for the night. We enjoyed the latest episode of Grey's Anatomy on her iPad and had Ryan bring us some food. Once I had food in my system I felt even better. The nurse came in to give me some pain meds and ambien which made me feel even more wonderful. The next morning while enjoying a hospital breakfast, the doctor came in for a second check. This time I was 2-3 cm dilated and my contractions were about the same as Friday. She told me I could go ahead and go home and call back if the contractions became more intense. Elizabeth stopped by for a quick visit and helped Casey and I get packed up. I must admit that I was a little disappointed since I had to go home and figure out when these contractions got worse. Well, here it is Monday and I am still at home. We went in for my regularly schedule appointment this morning to find out that I was the same yet again but still enduring these pesky contractions. At least I am able to work from home so I don't have to endure them in the office. They did go ahead and schedule me for an induction on 5/11 unless something happened sooner. I am still thinking sooner, but we shall see what baby has in mind. We are anxiously awaiting his arrival!!!
Such a sweet Big Brother
