We had a wonderful Christmas vacation this year. Momma got the full week of Christmas up to New Year's off which was really nice! Our vacation stops included Nashville to celebrate with Marty's family and then Auburn where we spent Christmas day with my family. The trip gave made us appreciate our van even more - cool or not, it gives us so many benefits and of course leg room!
Stop # 1: Grandmama's House, Nashville, TN: 12/22 - 12/24
We had a great visit with Marty's mom and sister's family. We don't get to see them as much as we like, so it was nice to spend a few days there. Saturday we headed up there with the boys and there was no waiting for presents once we arrived. As soon as Amy's kids came over, the begging began, so we opened gifts soon after. That night we celebrated with a Christmas dinner - turkey, dressing, sweet potatoes, and all that good stuff! The kiddos spent the rest of the evening playing with all their loot. It is so sweet to see the boys interact with their cousins. Braxton and Ben are close in age and have a blast together. Ben is 2 years older and shows Braxton the ropes - even shows him how to eat like a big boy. The rest of the weekend we hung out between Grandmama's and Amy's house. Livi and I made Christmas cookies and the boys couldn't hardly wait to help decorate them. It was such a fun time.
Stop #2: Me-Mom and Pop-Pop's House, Auburn, AL: 12/24 - 12/26
On Monday morning (Christmas Eve), we headed to Auburn from Nashville to celebrate with my family. We forgot how long it takes to get there...it wasn't a hour in before we made our first pit stop...needless to say, we were ready to be there after 5 hours in the van. Upon our arrival, my Mom had made some wonderful vegetable soup that we enjoyed for dinner. When it was time to put the kids to bed, we dressed them up in their matching PJs for some pics. They were definitely excited for Santa to come. Braxton put out some milk and cookies as well. This year is the first year that he really understands Santa so it was fun to see his excitement. On Christmas morning, the boys woke up to their display of gifts from Santa. Braxton even got his "Roary the Racecar" that he had asked for (and of course this is the toy he played with the least - always works that way). Later that morning, we headed to Mark and Amy's to celebrate with the rest of the family. We opened gifts and enjoyed the tradition of a eggs benedict brunch. Poor Carter couldn't make it to open gifts so we put him down for a nap and Braxton opened them for him. Such a good big brother. That night we had a wonderful Christmas dinner and celebrated Angelyn and Braxton's birthdays since they fall on 12/27-12/28. We kept saying that we were going to have to put Braxton on present detox since he had opened some every day for the last week. The next day we headed back home to the ATL. It was such a wonderful Christmas full of precious memories. We hope you and yours had a very blessed Christmas as well.
