The Big Move

Moving day arrived very quickly (4/1)!  We had put off packing for a while and definitely felt the brunt of it in the week leading up to the move.  Marty's Mom and sister were kind enough to come help us pack up the fragile items from our dining room and kitchen the weekend prior.  We had arranged for U-haul to bring us 4 U-boxes for us to store our items in while we were staying in the corporate apartment for 2 months.  After seeing the boxes, Marty felt that 5 might be needed and boy was he right.  As you can see in the pics below, we ended up needing the 5 boxes plus a truck and that still wasn't enough room.  Scott was too nice to come get our remaining outdoor items and store them at their house until we can get them.  We didn't realize how much STUFF we had.  I guess living anywhere for more than a couple of years can do that to you - especially after having 2 kids.  The sad part is we sold a bunch of things knowing that we would want new for the next house - so glad we did that, otherwise we would have been in a predicament!

The boys and I headed out the Saturday before (3/30) and stayed with Marty's mom for Easter.  We hated that Marty wasn't with us but he was packing up our remaining items.  It was so hard to get anything done with both boys at the house so this gave him precious time that we definitely needed.  I am glad that Marty rethought having enough room in my car for the items that we didn't want to store.  On Sunday, he ended up renting the truck and getting my car put on the back. Monday morning came early for Marty and the U-boxes arrived on time.  Unfortunately, the movers did not.  I won't go into the many complaints that we had about them, but let's just say it wasn't a good experience!  On top of moving, Marty had to leave to sign off on our closing docs since we would not be there on 4/3 to formally close.  Many thanks to Scott and Dawn who came to the rescue many times that day to transport Marty.  After many hours of packing the U-boxes and truck, everything was FINALLY loaded.  Marty got on the road around 5:30 EST which is probably the worst time ever to get on 75N, but he got through it.  In the meantime, I was getting us settled in the apartment and we anxiously awaited his arrival.  Around 9:30 CST, Marty arrived in the U-haul.  All we wanted to do is rest, but we hit a second wind and got all of the items we needed for the apartment off the truck.  Our heads finally hit the pillow around 1 AM.  Talk about a long day!  All I can say is that I have the best husband in the world to get us all moved out and take care of the closing docs for us.  I don't know how we could have done it without his diligence and hard work - love you babe!

Life Saver!

Good ole U-boxes
