Giving Thanks

Our first Thanksgiving in Nashville turned out to be our first ever Thanksgiving at home.  This year we are truly thankful for having family so close to us.  Marty's Mom and sister's family joined us in a delicious Thanksgiving feast.  We took care of the turkey, casserole, cake, and beverages, while Marty's family brought the fixings.  I was so excited to finally sit at our dining room table with china and crystal that Marty thought we would never use.  Unfortunately our nephew, Jonah, was feeling under the weather so him and Randy stayed at home, but got plates to go.  It was a wonderful day of eating and enjoying family.

Yummy Pumpkin Dream Cake

After filling up on food and getting a good night's rest, we loaded up on Friday morning and  headed to Auburn for Thanksgiving Round 2 with my family.  Friday night we got another helping of yummy turkey and dressing.  I was so glad that all of the family was able to make - it's not often that everyone is there at once.  It didn't hurt that it was Iron Bowl weekend and it would prove to be an amazing match-up against #1 (UA) and #4 (AU) - I will dedicate a separate post for that!  After a great weekend of visiting with family and football, we headed back home on Sunday for what turned out to be a 6-hour drive home.  Next year I might just take off Monday to miss the holiday traffic.
