Happy Independence Day!

We had a great time celebrating the 4th of July this year.  The day started with us heading out to Marietta Square for a parade.  Braxton had so much fun watching the big fire trucks come by.  Meanwhile, Carter was fast asleep in the Baby Bjorn.  About 3/4 way through the parade Carter got hungry so we headed home to get ready for our guests.  Marty's cousin and fiance (Clint and Leah) and the Veal family came over for a BBQ.  I cooked my first ever Boston butt in the crockpot (recipe courtesy of my friend Dawn).  It really turned out good - if I had know how easy it was, I would have made it a lot sooner!  Since I have started Weight Watchers, I made a few recipes from their website as well - potato salad and homemade ice cream (YUM!), in addition to some sugar free cupcakes.  After filling up on good food, we took the kids outside to play in the baby pool.  Braxton and Aija had so much fun splashing the water.  It was such a fun day visiting with family and friends.  Too bad we couldn't get out to see fireworks - Braxton's bed time is at 8 and it doesn't get dark until 9.  If he hadn't had skipped his nap that day, maybe we could have let him stay up late.  Oh well, we will have to try again next year.
